Canadians’ comfortable impression about the country’s environmental performance took another hit today with the release of a survey showing that Canada ranks 17th among the world’s 21 richestย nations.

Canada’s greenhouse gas production (and it’s failure to propose any workable policies to reduce that production were among the major factors blamed for the lowย standing.

Canada produces 23.4 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent per person per year, where the average among the riches countries was only 14ย tonnes.

Only the United States, at 24.5 tonnes, and Australia, at 28.5 tonnes, rated lower thanย Canada.
