According to a new white paper by DeSmog Canada, TransCanada Corporation, the company behind the Keystone XL pipeline proposal, has spent more than $4 million lobbying U.S. federal lawmakers and government department staff since 2010.ย ย

The report finds that since 2010, TransCanada, which is registered as a corporation in both the United States and Canada, has spent $2.78 million on in-company lobbyists and a further $1.26 million on U.S. based lobby firms. The vast majority of the work listed is to push U.S. government representatives for a favorable decision on the Keystone XLย pipeline.
