The world is in the midst of a climate backlash. But DeSmog isn’t backing down. We launched 20 years ago, and we’re taking this moment to invite you behind the scenes of our high-impact newsroom that investigates the companies, politicians, and science deniers blocking action to fix the climate emergency.

Join DeSmog editors – along with special guests Naomi KleinMichael E. Mann, and Jim Hoggan – for a special online conversation as we look back on two decades of climate accountability wins and reflect on what we need to do to ensure that the next 20 years usher in the end of climate denial and obstruction.

DeSmog’s Global Investigations Editor, Matthew Green, will guide us through the history of how DeSmog and friends put climate deniers “on the map,” inspired Congressional inquiries, and much more.

Then, best-selling author, activist, and University of British Columbia Professor of Climate Justice Naomi Klein will discuss with DeSmog Canada Editor Mary Stuart what the rise of the AI-fossil fuel axis and the resurgence of fascism means for climate accountability.

World-leading climate scientist Michael E. Mann and DeSmog U.S. Senior Editor Ashley Braun will dissect the evolving climate denier playbook and the tactics that have helped the climate movement successfully fight back.

Next, public relations guru Jim Hoggan speaks with DeSmog’s Executive Director Brendan DeMelle on his inspiration for founding DeSmog and its critical role in exposing the advertising and public relations industry’s role in fueling the climate crisis.

We will wrap up with Brendan DeMelle, DeSmog UK Editor-in-Chief Hazel Healy and DeSmog Global Managing Editor Geoff Dembicki reflecting on what’s next for DeSmog as we move into the next 20 years louder and more impactful than ever.

As Michael Mann said, “This is the turning of the tide. This is the defining battle of our time right now. And we need to be prepared. We need to be armed with information, with the sorts of resources that DeSmog has been providing the community for years.”

Join the party for insights and inspiration you won’t find anywhere else with DeSmog and friends on Wednesday, July 8, at 12:00 p.m. PDT/3:00 p.m. EDT/8:00 p.m. BST.

You won’t want to miss it.

Sign up now.

(Whether or not you can make the event, will you help power 20 more years of DeSmog’s unique brand of accountability journalism and research with a donation of any size right now?)
