Lobbyists that represent some of Canada’s biggest fossil fuel polluters are also lobbying on behalf of organizations trying to fix the climate crisis.
That’s one key finding from the U.S. non-profit F Minus, which since 2023 has been poring over lobbying databases across North America and identifying lobbyists who are aiding climate obstruction.
In October 2025, F Minus issued its first report focused on Canada, titled “Canada’s Climate-conflicted Lobbyists.” Following DeSmog reporting on that study, several climate-focused organizations ended their relationships with fossil fuel lobby groups, including, according to F Minus, the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan, the Canadian Medical Association, and the Prostate Cancer Centre.
Nature United, Metro Vancouver, and Ecotrust Canada also ended their relationships with lobbyists who work for the oil and gas sector after being contacted by F Minus, DeSmog, or partner organizations, during the research for the report.
Given the impactful nature of the research, as well as the deficiencies in Canadian lobbying legislation that makes such conflicts possible, DeSmog has partnered with F Minus to host its Canadian lobbying conflict of interest data, which you can find in a searchable database below.
The data will be updated quarterly and will be hosted on this page.
